Frames

All these prints are carefully matched with cherrywood frames made and carved by hand by master cabinet-makers who cut and work the wood with traditional craftsmanship, paying meticulous attention to every last detail.

A phrase which our customers frequently hear when they are choosing a frame is: "now this is a new, solid wood frame; in thirty years' time it will be an old cherrywood frame..." , underlining the fact that it too will acquire value as an antique piece.

There is a vast choice of models; many of these, although similar to those found elsewhere, have been specially designed and made for us in collaboration with the craftsmen, and we are proud to have given a name or initials to types of frame which many other craftsmen are now beginning to produce again. The frames are always wax-finished, and the corners held together with wooden peg joints. No nails, only wood and glue.
